The palace, constructed in 1917 by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya Bahadur, served as a royal retreat and later as the Governor’s residence until 2018.

The restoration project aims to honor the palace’s historic significance while adapting it for modern luxury hospitality. A newly built structure, inspired by the original architecture, will house 100 guest rooms. The existing palace will be meticulously restored and repurposed to include select public areas and a few grand royal suites, offering a seamless blend of heritage and elegance.
